(LFUCG)–Lexington’s Division of Waste Management will adjust its collection schedule for the upcoming Christmas holiday. Residents and businesses who normally have curbside waste collection on Tuesdays will be serviced on Monday, December 23.
Those impacted by the holiday schedule should place their carts out after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, to ensure collection.
No yard waste will be collected between December 23 and January 5, 2020. Only trash and recycling will be collected those weeks. This change affects all residents with city curbside waste collection.
Residents with city waste service can dispose of natural Christmas trees by placing them on the curb, next to their carts, for collection between January 6 and 31, 2020. Natural wreaths and garland can be placed in grey yard waste carts. Please remove all lights, tinsel, ornaments and other decorations before setting your tree out or placing natural items in your yard cart.
All Central Kentucky residents can dispose of natural trees by dropping them off during daylight hours at Jacobson Park where Kentucky’s Division of Fish and Wildlife will be collecting trees starting right after the holiday through January 17. There are drop-off locations throughout the state. Natural trees only, no wreaths, limbs or trash.
Artificial trees in good condition can be donated to Habitat for Humanity’s Restore. Those that need to be disposed can be placed on the curb. Again, please remove any loose decorations like tinsel and ornaments.
Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices will be closed on Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and January 1, 2020. The city’s Recycling Center, Electronics Recycling Center, and Haley Pike Waste Management Facility will be closed on those days, as well as on the following Saturdays: Dec. 21 and Dec. 28.
